Equality, Diversity & Inclusion at Reintegreat

At Reintegreat Education Solutions, we are fully committed to meeting the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED). We believe that every young person, staff member, and visitor to our school has the right to feel safe, valued, and respected. Our aim is to provide an inclusive environment where barriers are removed, differences are celebrated, and everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Our Legal Duty

The Equality Act introduced a single Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED), which applies to all schools, including independent providers like Reintegreat. This duty extends to all protected characteristics:
● Race
● Disability
● Gender
● Age
● Religion or belief
● Sexual orientation
● Pregnancy and maternity
● Gender reassignment

Schools must demonstrate due regard to the following three aims:

1.Eliminate discrimination and other conduct prohibited by the Act.
2.Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
3.Foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.

What “Due Regard” Means

At Reintegreat, we take our equality duties seriously. “Due regard” is not about ticking boxes, but about making sure that equality and inclusion are consciously considered in everything we do. We achieve this by ensuring:
● Awareness – all decision makers understand their duty to consider equality before decisions are made.
● Timeliness – equality is considered at the outset of decisions, not afterwards.
● Rigour – we carefully consider all relevant evidence to ensure decisions are fair and inclusive.
● Non-delegation – the responsibility to comply with the Equality Act remains with the school and cannot be passed on.
● Continuing duty – equality is reviewed regularly and kept at the forefront of school planning and practice.
● Record keeping – we keep records to show how equality has been considered in decision-making processes.

How We Put Equality into Practice

At Reintegreat, we demonstrate compliance with the Equality Act and our commitment to equality through:
● Providing a broad, balanced and inclusive curriculum that represents diversity and promotes respect.
● Ensuring all learners, including those with SEND and additional needs, have equal access to education and support.
● Embedding equality and diversity themes into PSHE, SMSC and pastoral support programmes.
● Promoting positive attitudes towards difference through assemblies, enrichment, and school events.
● Training staff so they are aware of their duties and confident in addressing discrimination or inequality.
● Working with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure barriers to participation are identified and removed.
● Setting and reviewing equality objectives as part of our ongoing school development.

Our Commitment

We are proud to be a school that celebrates diversity, values individuality, and works tirelessly to ensure that every learner has the same opportunities to succeed. Equality, diversity, and inclusion are not just legal obligations, they are central to who we are and how we prepare our students for life beyond Reintegreat.
