Physical Education
Curriculum Intent

At Reintegreat, we are passionate about fostering a culture of health, wellbeing, and self-care for both staff and students. We see Physical Education (PE) as a vital part of our curriculum and are committed to providing opportunities for every learner to enjoy physical activity, develop lifelong healthy habits, and experience the personal and social benefits of sport.

Our PE curriculum is designed to:

-
Promote enjoyment and engagement in physical activity
-
Build confidence, self-esteem, and resilience
-
Encourage teamwork, leadership, and communication skills
-
Provide opportunities to experience performance, coaching, leadership, and officiating
-
Help students understand the importance of keeping active for both physical and mental health
Through regular participation in PE, students are continually challenged to progress, celebrate achievement, and develop their social skills in both individual and team settings.

Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8, 9)

At KS3, students take part in a wide range of physical activities designed to build competence and enjoyment. Our Core PE curriculum promotes sustained physical activity, teamwork, and personal development. Students are encouraged to participate in both individual and team sports, learning skills they can take forward into later life.

The KS3 programme ensures:

-
Opportunities to excel in a broad range of activities
-
Development of fitness, skills, and confidence
-
Engagement in competitive sports and structured team play
Key Stage 4 (Years 10, 11)

At KS4, students continue to participate in Core Physical Education, tackling more complex and demanding activities. The focus is on developing personal fitness and sustaining an active, healthy lifestyle.

In addition, students have the option to work towards a VCert in Health & Fitness (NCFE), which provides a more in-depth exploration of physical education and introduces elements of sports science. Topics include:

-
Anatomy and Physiology
-
Principles of Health and Fitness
-
The relationship between exercise and wellbeing
This pathway enables students not only to remain active but also to gain a recognised qualification that supports progression into further education, training, or careers in health, fitness, and sport.
