Curriculum Intent

At Reintegreat, our English Language and Literature curriculum is designed to be progressive, engaging, and ambitious, building on the foundations established at Key Stage 2.

At Key Stage 3, students develop a deeper understanding of the writer’s craft, improving technical accuracy, comprehension, and creativity. They are encouraged to both appreciate and emulate successful writing. Our curriculum is delivered as a cyclical body of learning, allowing students to revisit and build on key knowledge and skills. Regular formative and summative assessments ensure gaps in learning are identified, and students are supported to progress with targeted feedback.

At Key Stage 4, students begin their GCSE journey. They study classic works of literature, including Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, and a range of poems from the Power and Conflict anthology. Alongside this, they prepare for the English Language examinations through the study of non-fiction and fiction extracts, enabling them to connect with the wider world through reading, writing, and spoken language.

Our curriculum is designed not only to prepare students for exams but also to foster a lifelong appreciation of literature and communication.
