That’s why employability skills are embedded throughout our curriculum and wider school experience. We want every student to leave us not only with qualifications but also with the confidence, resilience, and practical skills to thrive in the workplace and their future lives.
 

Our Approach
 

We provide students with structured opportunities to develop the skills that employers value most, communication, teamwork, problem solving, leadership, creativity, and adaptability. These skills are introduced and practised across subjects, co-curricular activities, and personal development programmes.
 

CV Writing and Career Preparation
 

As part of our careers education, all students take part in dedicated CV writing workshops. They learn how to present their achievements, skills, and experiences in a professional way, ensuring they leave school with a high-quality CV ready for applications to college, apprenticeships, or employment.
 

Work Experience and the PiXL Edge Programme
 

We give students the chance to put their learning into practice through work experience placements, where they gain real insight into the world of work. Alongside this, our participation in the PiXL Edge programme allows students to build employability skills in a structured, recognised framework. This includes developing leadership, organisation, resilience, initiative, and communication, all of which are highly valued by employers and further education providers.
 

PSHE and Personal Development
 

Our PSHE curriculum ensures that students explore the wider aspects of employability, financial awareness, workplace rights and responsibilities, digital literacy, and personal presentation. This helps them to develop the confidence and self-awareness needed to make informed decisions about their future.
 

NCFE Qualification
 

We also support students in gaining formal recognition of their skills through an NCFE employability qualification. This accredited award evidences the key competencies our students develop and provides them with an extra advantage when applying for further study, apprenticeships, or employment.
